Fishery Information

Farmoor Reservoir is a 400-acre reservoir split by a kilometer-long causeway. It is located five miles west of Oxford and surrounded by beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Thames Water owns and manages the reservoir.

Farmoor is not just a reservoir; it is also a one-of-a-kind home for the local flora and fauna and a dream destination for sailors and anglers. There are three nature reserves, each providing visitors with the opportunity to see a different kind of animal.

The fishery is well-known for its high-quality trout fishing and offers guided days for fishing for blue, brown, and rainbow trout and pike. The fishery receives a substantial amount of rainbow and brown trout for stocking yearly, which helps maintain a steady population of fish.

The reservoir also benefits from substantial coarse fish stocks because of the water intake from the main river; however, these stocks may decrease because of the recent installation of eel screens. This venue is suitable for anglers with some previous fly fishing experience.

What size do the fish go to?

The fish stocked weigh anything from 1.5 to 3 pounds, but they quickly put on weight in the food-rich water. The pike is also gaining weight and can be targeted using fly fishing techniques.
