Fishery Information

Kilbirnie Loch is in the floodplain between Kilbirnie, Glengarnock, and Beith. It is approximately 761 acres with depths ranging from approximately 17 feet to a maximum of approximately 36 feet. The Maich Water, which originates in the Kilbirnie Hills close to Misty Law, is the primary source of water for the loch. The fishing loch is home to large pike and large stocks of roach in addition to rainbow and brown trout. Bank and boat fishing are common here. 

What size do the fish go to?

There is not a lot of information available about the weights of the fish, but in 2009, a 
pike that weighed more than 30 pounds was caught in the loch.
