Fishery Information

The Llangorse Lake is the largest of South Wales’s naturally occurring lakes. It is owned by the Llangorse Lake Conservation and Management Co. Ltd., which also manages the lake and issues permits for fishing and boating on it.

Llangorse Lake is famous for its coarse pike fishing. Other fish include roach, bream, tench, perch, and eels. Because the lake is a Special Area of Conservation, any fish captured there must be immediately released back into the water. Fishing is only allowed from boats and not from river banks.

The shop offers both ticket sales and boat rental services for convenience. It is required that all chartered fishing boats be returned by 4 p.m. to allow time for cleaning the vessels before they are utilized the following day again.

What size do the fish go to?

In recent years, a good number of double-digit pike weighing up to 25 pounds have been caught there. Throughout its history, it has consistently produced fish that weigh more than 30 pounds.

What tactics work well?

There are several; methods you can use to catch pike, but you should employ the strategy that works best for both you and the environment in which you are fishing. Deadbait, livebait, and lure fishing are the three most effective strategies for catching pike.
