Fishery Information

Operated by the Barnet and District Angling Club, Lowbell Lane Lake is an intimate venue with a wide variety of stock.

This is a private fishing spot, with no day tickets available.

There is a wide variety of pegs at Lowbell Lane Lake, each of which provides a special challenge to the angler.

Stock of roach, perch, bream, carp, crucians, tench, pike, and chub from the River Colne fill the waters at Lowbell.

What size do the fish go to?

Roach over two pounds, carp over 20 pounds, crucians over three pounds, and tench over five pounds have been reported here. Anglers have also turned up bream over five pounds, along with a few catfish of significance.

What tactics work well?

Diversity of tactics is critical at Lowbell Lane Lake. Fishing the waggler to the islands does the trick, along with using castor or maggot over groundbait.

Corn and worm in the margins has been known to turn up tench, while pole fishing with caster on the pegs near the river will lead to some good chub.

Carp turn up well in the summer months, especially around the first six pegs. Roach are plentiful on pegs 25 to 30 with hemp and caster.

Chopped worm is the thing to catch perch year-round, with some curious crucian and tench showing up on the lines.

Is parking available?

Parking in the lane is not permitted at Lowbell Lane Lake. During the week, parking is shared with the nearby church. On weekends, parking is located by the roadside.
