Fishery Information

The Mapperley Reservoir is a very large fresh water lake that spans 17-18 acres and includes a nature reserve that spans 2 acres. The venue, surrounded by trees and situated in a very nice setting, is a nice place to fish throughout the year. Carp, pike, roach, bream, tench, and perch are some of the fish that live there. Shipley Country Park’s Visitors Centre is the place to go to purchase your tickets.

What size do the fish go to?

Carp to 26lb, pike to 20+, roach to 2lb, bream to 8lb, tench to 8/9 lb, perch to 3lb

What tactics work well?

You can catch pike and carp with boilies, sprats with float-fished maggots, and bream and roach hybrids with feeders using maggots and groundbait. Dead bait is good to catch pike, while boilies work well for catching carp.
