Fishery Information

Situated in Wigan, Lancashire, Morans Moat is a sublime setting that offers excellent sport to the dedicated Carp angler. The water is roughly 120m long and 70m wide and boasts numerous fishing features. Thus, Islands, reeds and lily pads give the location a serene and tranquil feel.

Furthermore, long grass and woodland areas on the perimeter offer a home to various wildlife species. There are approximately 30 spacious pegs, with several offering disabled access. The waters are regularly restocked and offer a good head of Carp, Bream, Tench and Roach.

Facilities are open to both members and day ticket anglers, with day tickets starting at £3.00.

What size do the fish go to?

Carp hit an average of 8lbs. However, many do get into double figures, with the largest fish exceeding 15lbs. Also, Tench, Bream and Roach typically weigh between 2 and 6lbs.

What tactics work well?

Using pellets and boilies through the summer can entice the larger carp. Additionally, anglers like to use worms, maggots or sweetcorn as bait. However, all popular still water methods typically work well.

What facilities are on site? 

There are a number of shops, bars and restaurants within a short distance of the vicinity. Furthermore, clean and accessible toilet facilities are open to visitors.
