The Navar Lakes (Achork, Glencreawan, and Meenameen) are located within a scenic forest area near Derrygonnelly. The area offers a scenic drive, a cliff-top viewpoint, and a touring caravan site. Achork and Meenameen are known for their good stocks of brown trout, while Glencreawan is stocked with both brown and rainbow trout. Fly fishing, spinning, and worm fishing are permitted at Achork and Meenameen, while only fly fishing is allowed at Glencreawan.

What tactics work well?

What facilities are on site?

The Navar Lakes area offers scenic forest walks and picnic areas scattered throughout the forest. Car parks are located at the water’s edge at Glencreawan and Meenameen. At Achork, there is a 40m walk along the forest path from the car park to the shore. Fishing from non-mechanical boats is allowed at Glencreawan and Meenameen. However, Achork is currently inaccessible by boat.

Additional Information:

Both a DAERA game rod licence and a DAERA game angling permit are required to fish at the Navar Lakes. The lakes are considered ideal for family outings due to the beautiful scenery and the availability of forest walks. Fishing is not allowed in the fourth lake, Lough Navar.
