Fishery Information

Perry Street Pond is a beautiful fishery located approximately 4 miles from Chard. This mill pond is home to an impressive number of fish species such as carp, bream, skimmers, eel, perch, roach and tench. Carp dominate the pond and have been caught at low double figures (~20 lbs.) usually on the pole and down the ages.

To get there, turn off the B3167 at the turning for the Swisstulle Ltd factory. Turn left into the car park where there is ample parking and the pond is just a short walk away, over the footbridge.

The pond is open all year round. Club tickets for seniors and juniors can be purchased from Barrons 2 Holyrood Street, Chard, Somerset.

Please note that floating baits (bread crust, pellet or mixers), keep nets (except in club competitions) and live baiting are not allowed on site. Juniors are not allowed to fish at night unless accompanied by an adult.

What size do the fish go to?

Carp that weigh a little over 20 lbs. have been caught here.

What tactics work well?

Most baits reportedly work well, including casters, maggots, paste, meat, corn, pellets and worm. Skimmers respond well to maggots over groundbait, chopped worm and caster. During warm weather, carp respond well to shallow tactics, with pellets a top choice. Most fish can be caught on feeder, pole or waggler.

What facilities are on site?

Parking is available at the venue.

Is parking available?

Ample parking is available on site.
