Fishery Information

The River Frome is a fantastic river to fish. There is a huge head of nice-sized chub in this stretch of river, and there is a chance of getting on them in every peg. Many anglers go to this stretch of river for a pleasant day’s fishing for dace, roach, perch and bream, all while knowing there is a big chance of catching a beautiful chub.

There is plenty of cover on the banks of this river stretch. This creates a brilliant habitat for loads of species of fish, so there is plenty of action to be had. With big perch and pike, the predator anglers are always happy here. There is also limited space for fly anglers at the top end of this stretch of the river too, with wild trout growing very big here.

What size do the fish go to?

There is pike to double figures. Perch to over 3lbs. Trout to 4lbs and silverfish to a few pounds as well. Of course, for most who take the trip to the River Frome, it is the chub they want. You could land a chub in this stretch of the river to 6lbs! There is also carp in the river, but as yet, no one knows how big they truly are as they are nearly impossible to land.

What tactics work well?

Meat, cheese paste, worm and bread are all popular here. Waggler fishing is a good option too. So are closed method feeders with maggot. The River Frome is fairly forgiving on tactics, but the big ones take patience.

What facilities are on site?

As this is a stretch of river, the facilities are limited.

Is parking available?

There are a couple of car parks available.
