Fishery Information

Located near the world famous Belfry Golf Club between Coleshill and Tamworth to the north of Birmingham, Pool House Farm proves that size isn’t everything. This stunning 1-acre fishery offers a variety of swims and pegs. Fishing here is done from purpose-made landing stages. It is usually closed during winter months because they prevent the fish to be stressed due to overfishing.

This 300-year-old former clay pit is just a 3-minute drive from junction 9 of the M42 motorway. It was purposely dug to provide building material for the nearby Middleton village located about a mile away. It originally has 2 separate pools with a bank that run across from what is now Pegs 3 and 15.

When it was taken over by a new owner Cedric Heys 30 years ago, this venue was unfishable. He reinstated the pool and developed it as a fishery. This delightful pool now holds around 22 anglers on well-spaced pegs.

Barbed, crushed or crimped hooks are not allowed. Keepnets are allowed but should not retain common or mirror carp.

Tickets are available to be purchased on site.

What size do the fish go to?

Common and mirror carp go up to 26 lbs., tench up to 7 lbs., perch up to 4 lbs. and crucian carp to 3lbs..

What tactics work well?

Since the pool is relatively shallow, it is easy to fish with a waggler or pole. However, some anglers prefer to leger with swim feeder, use modern carp techniques or attach a straight-through leger weight.

Roach and rudd are regularly taken on waggler or pole fished worm. The most popular technique for targeting crucians is to waggler or pole fish a quarter-inch cube of luncheon meat over a small about of sweetcorn, feeding 3 or 4 kernels every third cast. The most popular hook size is either a 16 or an 18 tied to a maximum of 0.15 diameter or 3 lbs. breaking strain line.

If you are going for the common and mirror carp, cubes of Spam, maggots, yellow sweetcorn, worm and casters work well. Please note that hemp, tares, nut baits and dog or cat meat shouldn’t be used as baits. The site also do not allow use of maggot clips, paste springs or bolt rigs.

Casters, corn, maggots and worm are all great all-round baits for catching all species.

What facilities are on site?

Ample sized car parking is available about 25 yards from the pool.

Is parking available?

Parking is available on site.
