Fishery Information

A coarse fishing venue nestled in 28 acres of pastureland, Puddledock Farm Fishery has been established since 1998. It’s located between Upminster, Brentwood, and South Ockendon.

Puddledock Farm Fishery is noted for its comfortable fishing swims, which all have a slabbed platform. It is definitely a flat site, which makes it easy to access for the elderly and disabled.

Puddledock Farm Fishery features four lakes in total, especially designed for versatile fishing.

Snake Lake is set aside as a competition leg, with 100 pegs. The lake is 14 metres wide and about one and a half metres deep, with pegs 13 metres apart with reed and rushes on the banks. Snake Lake holds regular open matches Sundays and Wednesdays. It is stocked with carp, bream, chub, roach, crucian and brown goldfish, rudd, and tench. Snake Lake is also open for pleasure anglers.

Road Lake is a 30-peg mixed lake, often cited as the most popular lake at Puddledock Farm Fishery. This water is packed with a variety of fish and is adorned with one island up the middle, about 20 metres from the bank. The depth is about 1.6 metres.

Wood Lake is, as the name suggest, located against the backdrop of the woods. Loaded with mostly carp, Wood Lake is popular for families as it contains some smaller fish good for those just starting out on their angling adventure.

Finally, Island Lake is jam-packed with carp. Featuring 24 pegs, Island Lake is one of the quieter spots at Puddledock Farm Fishery.

What size do the fish go to?

Fish in Snake Lake range in size from 20-pound carp to roach in the two pound neighbourhood. Competitions have turned up carp in or at 100 pounds, so you can expect some monsters as well.

Wood Lake features fish in the 12 to 18 pound range, some of which push the low 20s and might even eclipse 30 pounds. There are lots of smaller fish in this patch.

Small carp to those up to 18 pounds can be snagged out of Island Lake.

What tactics work well?

Fishing in Road Lake is a great spot for waggler and feeder fishing in particular. Both long and short poles have turned up good catches in this spot, so feel free to experiment.

What facilities are on site?

Puddledock Farm Fishery boasts a cafe with seating for 60, plus washroom facilities for all. There is also a tackle shop.

Is parking available?

There are two parking lots at Puddledock Farm Fishery.
