Fishery Information

Controlled by the York & District Amalgamation of Anglers, River Ouse Poppleton is split into 3 sections. Approximately 3 miles of fishing are available on this venue and night fishing is allowed by prior arrangement via the secretary office. Day tickets are available and can be purchased from usual outlets.

This water is suitable for all angling methods and home to stunning roach and bream. Match bookings are available.

To get there, follow these directions. Travelling from York, take the A59 to Knaresbourgh, turn right after leaving the ring road just after the garden centre and then turn right at the village green. Follow the road until the parking area is reached, on the left hand side of the road just before the memorial. There is a track to the river. This track leads into a field with a large area with a white metal gate and the end. Access to the section, through the white gate and walk upstream.

What size do the fish go to?

We couldn’t find any information about the size of fish present in this fishery.

What tactics work well?

Ground bait feeder with worm and caster works well. Roach respond well to maggot feeder. Pole fishing works well for bags of perch and roach when fishing over the marginal weed.
