Fishery Information

Placed in the heart of the Essex countryside, Rockells Farm has been operating for over 30 years. This working, arable farm provides plenty of peace and quiet for anglers and visitors.

Its three-acre lake is stocked with plenty of carp and tench. It was excavated about 40 years ago, situated as it is at the foot of a large garden. The waters are stream-fed and embraced by weeping willows, firs, and rushes, creating one of the best course fisheries in the country.

Rockells Farm has 24 swims with sizeable platforms, two of which are suitable for disabled anglers. The water is just five inches deep, but this is an excellent facility for coarse fishing.

Gates open at 7:30 am, with access limited after 11 am. Day anglers must finish up and leave the lake by dusk.

Swims can be booked by phone.

What size do the fish go to?

Rockells Farm is stocked with carp up to 26 pounds and tench up to four and a half pounds. The winter months provide robust fishing thanks to the presence of a head of roach, rudd, and chub.

What tactics work well?

Barbless hooks only. Anglers are to fish from the platforms only, with unhooking mats required. Keepnets and competition fishing are not permitted.

What facilities are on site?

Rockells Farm has toilet access, but users are to bring their own toilet roll and sanitizer.

Is parking available?

There is a parking lot located near the lake entrance. Visitors to Rockells Farm must be mindful of private areas.
