Fishery Information

Slough House is a five-acre lake with marginal reed beds. Located in Heybridge, this fishing spot also features an island but can get quite weedy in the warm months. It’s important to check lake conditions before setting up a swim, as you never know what you’re going to get.

Slough House features carp, perch, and rudd for float and feeder fishing. Some have reported some tench and even a big bream or two, so keep your eyes open for variety.

Slough House is overseen by the Maldon Angling Society. Slough House West is one of the newest acquisitions of the Society, so they are taking a lot of pride in it.

Standard night permits are available for Slough House, with anglers able to fish for two consecutive nights between November 1 and March 31 and one night only between April 1 and October 31. Three rods are allowed on premises during night fishing.

What size do the fish go to?

Tench up to six pounds have been found in Slough House waters.

What tactics work well?

Float and feeder fishing is recommended for landing the fish in Slough House. Catching perch can be a matter of watching the waters and exploring the margins with the float. Because perch love cover, sticking to the banks and snags can yield excellent results.

Is parking available?

There is a car park at Slough House. At times, the parking lot can become very muddy. This creates problems, so be mindful of where you’re parking when you arrive at Slough House. Tractor traffic in winter months creates an uptick in muddy conditions, too, so plan ahead.
