West Golds is a tidal water located in Newton Abbot, approached from the Templers Way, opposite Gormans Scrap Metal Yard. It is incorporated in the flood defense system of the local area and holds a variety of fish species, providing a quiet venue for anglers.

What size do the fish go to?

West Golds holds a range of fish, including carp that can reach over 20lbs, surprising many due to its tidal nature. Other species such as bream, dace, roach, skimmers, mullet, and eel are also present. The stock is ever-changing with the flow of the higher tides.

All methods work at West Golds, and anglers can employ various techniques to target the different fish species. Extreme care should be taken at this venue due to flash tidal flooding, which is common.

It is noted that there is no parking near the pond, and anglers are advised to park at the Rackerhayes complex and then walk towards Newton Abbot to access West Golds via the footpath for Templers Way at the large traffic island.
