Fishery Information

Alverstone Ponds are located in a beautiful area of natural marshland on the Isle of Wight. The natural site is only about two acres in size, but it is just surrounded by peace and quiet and wonderful wildlife. You really will get lost in nature as you fish at Alverstone Ponds, but don’t forget to focus as there are some lovely fish to catch at this venue.

Alverstone Ponds never wanted to just be a carp fishing venue, so because of this, they have stocked their lakes really well. Sure, there are some excellent carp to be caught here, but there are also some fantastic tench, bream, roach and rudd, as well as more.

What size do the fish go to?

The largest carp at Alverstone Ponds only go to double-figures, but don’t let that put you off. Targeting these fish is so much fun. Both the lakes are nice and small, but they have hard-fighting tench and carp all around them. Finding the fish isn’t difficult, but landing them is because of how small the lakes are.

What tactics work well?

Both of the lakes at Alverstone Ponds are quite weedy, so speed is key. Whatever method you are using (feeder fishing and float fishing both work well here), you need to be quick on the draw. Maggots, corn and pellets are the best baits to use.

What facilities are on site?

There are log cabins at Alverstone Ponds which are the perfect place to stay while you fish.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is available.
