Fishery Information

Cheyney Manor Lakes is located south of Banbury and is a day ticket water with four ponds to choose from. The lakes were once the private ponds of the manor house, but nowadays, the site is a day ticket water and a campsite.

All four lakes can offer a good day’s fishing if you are prepared to do some scouting around. If you are staying on the campsite, getting up at first light and taking a stroll around the lakes will show where the fish are. When you know, get your gear, get set up and get ready for a busy day!

What size do the fish go to?

All of the usual suspects are in all four lakes here. You have a good head of roach and rudd, as well as perch, pike, tench and carp. The carp aren’t the biggest, but there are certainly a few on-site that go to double figures. The same is true for the pike. For the smaller species, catching roach to 2lbs and perch to 3lbs isn’t unusual.

What tactics work well?

Cheyney Manor isn’t a typical carp fishery. Instead, it is a lovely match-style complex with loads of exciting fishing if you’re willing to put in some work. Bait up a likely area (near the margins is ideal). And keep that area baited throughout the day. Use corn, pellets, maggots and groundbait, and you’ll be reeling them in all day long.

What facilities are on site?

Toilets are available to anglers. The site also has all of the facilities one would expect from a campsite.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is available.
