Fishery Information

Located just outside the village of Middleton St George, Fighting Cocks reservoir is made up of 3 gravel pits, which equate to about 3.5 acres in area. This venue is owned and run by Ferryhill and District Angling Club, however, day tickets are available on request. The venue has no closed season and is open for night fishing too. While slightly understated with minimal facilities the water boasts some impressive fish. Anglers can expect to catch several species including Carp, Roach, and Perch. There is advice that fishing close to the margins brings the best results, but this is unverified.

What size do the fish go to?

Anglers can expect to catch numerous roach and perch up to 1lb

Several websites claim that the waters also hold carp up to 23lb.

There have been local reports of Pike and Bream being caught also

What tactics work well?

Fishing the margins is said to yield the best results.

Local anglers report that fishing on the bottom with bombs and feeders also produces good results.

During the summer months, it is well worth trying floating baits in the evening as the fish rise.

What facilities are on site?

As this is club water, there are no facilities on site

Is parking available?

While there aren’t dedicated parking facilities, the venue is not far from the main road.
