Fishery Information

An intimate fishery showcasing year-round coarse fishing, Avon Tyrrell is set in a private estate in the New Forest National Park.

Owned and operated by the Ringwood and District Anglers Association, Avon Tyrrell Lake is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on most days. 

The intimacy at Avon Tyrrell Lake is a major selling feature, as this spot only has room for six members a day. Tickets can be purchased for day fishing or for the season through reception.

Sheltered in a tree-lined atmosphere with lily pads and an island, Avon Tyrrell Lake is a delightful spot for a day out on the water. It is stocked with perch, eels, rudd, bream, roach, tench, carp, and even some goldfish.

What size do the fish go to?

Some reports suggest that carp in this lake can reach up to 30 pounds, so be prepared for a fight.

What tactics work well?

A landing net and unhooking mat is required at Avon Tyrrell.

No nuts or excessive use of boilies or groundbait.

Disposal of excess bait is not permitted.

Pre-baiting is not allowed.

Fishing may only be done from established swims.

Barbless hooks only.

Keepnets are only permitted during match play.

What facilities are on site?

There are toilets at Avon Tyrrell Lake.

The gate is locked at night, so anglers are encouraged to purchase a key from reception.

Is parking available?

Parking is available in a designated lot.
