Fishery Information
The magnificent Claydon House, a National Trust country house near Winslow in Buckinghamshire, is the location for Josh’s Lake, otherwise known as Claydon Middle Lake. A beautifully kept fishery that is famed for its catfish, this easily accessible facility is a simply stunning place to fish.
The Middle Lake was stocked with catfish from the Woburn Estate in the 1950’s and examples of 39lb have been caught here. There is also a good head of carp, with weights up to 28lb and an average of low double figures. The lake is popular with anglers new to the sport as the numbers of fish are great. Middle Lake also houses many good-sized bream and, unusually, zander which are a rare catch in coarse fisheries.
The fishery also includes the Top Lake where anglers catch good sized tench, bream and carp, and should note that this lake has recently been renovated and cleared of the many weeds it once housed.
Night fishing is not permitted at Josh’s Lake and parking is by the lakes, and not in the grounds of Claydon House. There is also a lengthy walk to reach Middle Lake from the car park.
