Fishery Information
Kilnsey Park is a wonderful fly fishing fishery in a fantastic location. It is surrounded by the natural beauty of Upper Wharfedale and has a picturesque backdrop thanks to Kilnsey Crag. So, the location is excellent, but so is the fishing. There is a fantastic array of trout in the lake, including hard fighting rainbow, brown, blue and golden trout. We strongly urge any fly anglers to visit this fishery; once you go, you’ll never want to fish anywhere else.
What size do the fish go to?
The trout in this lake range from 2lbs up to a massive 20lbs. The lake is stocked and managed very well, so with the right tactics, even beginners can land the beauties in this lake. There is a family fishing pond as well that has smaller fish in it, but it still provides endless fun.
What tactics work well?
Just like any other fly fishing venue, the tactics greatly depend on the time of year you go. There are professional fly anglers who teach classes at this lake all year round, though. So, when you arrive, head to the cafe and discuss flies and tactics with these lovely folk over a cup of tea.
What facilities are on site?
There is personal fishing tuition available here. There are also fly fishing courses to gain even more knowledge about fly fishing. There’s also a cafe close to the lake with toilets and great food.
Is parking available?
Parking is available close to the lake.
