Fishery Information

Leominstead Trout Fishery is located at Emery Down in Lyndhurst and is a four-acre natural lake tucked into a natural environment. The water is stream-fed and clear as gin, with reasonably shallow depths.

Leominstead Trout Fishery is overseen by the Salisbury and District Angling Club.

The waters are teeming with good stock of rainbow and brown trout, complete with some wild brown residents originating from the feeder streams in the forest. Woodland fishing can be done from the pontoons on the water’s edge on both sides of the lake, while fishing from the dam near the car park is also permitted.

This is a members only lake. Guest passes are available for purchase through the Club.

What size do the fish go to?

Size records at this fishery include a rainbow trout over 19 pounds and a brown trout over 10 pounds. Six-pound tiger trout have also been fished at Leominstead.

What tactics work well?

Montana, Damsels, and Daddies are recommended for fly fishing at this spot, as they best mimic the natural fly life on the water and in the surrounding forest.

A maximum of 16 rods is permitted on Leominstead Trout Fishery at all times.

This lake is closed in June, July, and August.

What facilities are on site?

There is a caravan club site on the premises for members usage only. This offers camping at the top end of the lake. There are sheep grazing on this site at times, so members should book ahead to clear the property with the land owner.

There is also a pub five minutes away by road.

Is parking available?

There is a car park on the premises.
