Fishery Information

Centered around a stunning countryside location in Kentisbeare, Devon, Millhayes offers a tremendous angling environment that comprises of two lakes.

The main lake is approximately 2 acres in size and boasts a healthy stock of Carp, Tench, Roach and Rudd. It is the most popular of the two lakes.

The second lake is just under half an acre in size, but still has a substantial amount of Crucian Carp and Bream. Both lakes are fed with a continuous flow of spring water that comes from the Blackdown Hills. This ensures that the fish are maintained at an excellent condition.

What size do the fish go to?

In the main lake, Carp are caught with frequency over the 30lbs mark. Smaller species of Tench often come in at 8lbs, as well as Roach and Rudd between 2-4lbs.

What tactics work well?

Pellets, maggots, worms and corn are the most popular methods. In the summer, floating baits work extremely well, especially for the larger Carp.

What facilities are on site?

Clean toilet facilities are available on location.

Is parking available?

The site hosts a safe and secure car park with ample spaces available.

  1. Millhayes is under new ownership and reopened in June 2021.

    Both lakes have been dredged and restocked.

    Willow (the largest lake) is the specimen carp lake and has been stocked with 90 carp currently up to 31lbs (Oct 21).

    James’ Pool is stocked with Tench to 6lbs, Crucian Carp to 2.5lbs, and 3lb Bream and Golden Rudd.
