Ruxley Complex – The New Barge is a picturesque 5-acre gravel pit with a depth ranging from 2 to 6 feet. The lake features several gravel bars scattered around its perimeter. Notably, there are five islands within the lake, with four of them situated towards the center and a gravel plateau at a depth of 2 feet between them. Additionally, the lake boasts two mature Norfolk reed beds and patches of pink and white lily pads. The New Barge Lake benefits from being spring-fed, resulting in high water quality and a thriving habitat for its inhabitants.

What size do the fish go to?

The New Barge Lake offers a diverse range of fish species with respectable sizes. Anglers can encounter Carp up to 29lbs, Tench up to 10lbs, Rudd and Roach reaching up to 1lb, Perch up to 3.5lbs, and Pike up to 20lbs. The lake’s excellent habitat and water quality contribute to the growth and well-being of the fish, with some carp gaining an impressive 5lbs in weight every year.
