Shepherds Way – Brookmans Park

Address

Shepherds Way, Brookmans Park, AL9 6, Herts, United Kingdom

Fishery Information

Overseen by the Barnet and District Angling Club, there are two lakes at Shepherds Way – Brookmans Park.

There are 40 pegs spread between the two lakes, with many of the spots filling up – especially in the summer months. This is a popular venue when the weather is nice, but fishing is available any time of the year.

A process of de-silting recently took place at Shepherds Way – Brookmans Park, following up on the closure from autumn in 2019 in which some 500 tons of sediment were removed. The recent process was designed to increase the depth levels of the lake and turn up better overall water quality, a sure sign that Club takes angling seriously.

This is a members-only spot

No night fishing until further notice.

Stock includes productive carp and roach.

What size do the fish go to?

Carp range between two and 25 pounds at Shepherds Way – Brookmans Park, while roach can average between a dozen ounces or a single pound. It isn’t uncommon to find larger roach in the pond.

What tactics work well?

Carp are versatile and will turn up at just about any peg on the water. Varying the tactics and reading the water is essential for hauling in a good catch. This is especially necessary when it’s busy around the lake, as the fish move around a fair bit and find new places to chill.
