Fishery Information

Swanswater Fishery, located near Stirling and surrounded by stunning natural scenery, has excellent fly and bait trout fishing opportunities. Swanswater, the main body of water, spans around 10 acres and provides fly fishing for up to 30 bank rods and three boats for hire. The smaller Meadow Pond is also exclusively fly fishing, although the Millpond allows anglers to use bait too.

The Millpond and the Meadow Pond, both smaller than Swanswater, have also been stocked with high-quality fish that put up a good fight. The fishery practices stocking fish of the highest quality daily, including rainbow trout, golden trout, brown trout, blue trout, and tiger trout. All of the fish are raised locally, and triploid rainbow trout are the only kind used.

What size do the fish go to?

Swanswater is stocked with fish ranging two to eighteen pounds.

What tactics work well?

The fish in the smaller ponds tend to have a lower average weight, although larger fish are more abundant in these bodies of water. Golden Trout are common in each of the three ponds, and they are easy to spot and target. A diverse population of flies and other insects provide natural feeding in the ponds, and the most effective fishing techniques change depending on the season and the climate.

What facilities are on site?

The facilities include a comfortable fishing lodge selling soft drinks, snacks, and sweets and issuing fishing permits. In addition, there is a huge parking lot and toilets, one of which is handicapped accessible. A wide variety of flies and nylon is available for purchase and tackle can be rented from the reception desk.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is available.
