Fishery Information

Tarn Pond, which is more commonly known as Cutt Mill, is a fine estate lake set in the middle of woodland on the edge of scenic Puttenham Common. This premier carp fishery is home to mirror carp to 29 lbs., common carp to over 20 lbs., bream to 11 lbs., tench to 9 lbs., eel to 6 lbs., crucian carp to over 3 lbs., pike to 10 lbs, silverfish, crucian carp and roach.

This water has approximately 250 carp with a mix of slow and fast growing fish, which are now in double figures. It covers 8 acres and is 5 feet deep.

What size do the fish go to?

Mirror carp go up to 29 lbs., common carp to over 20 lbs., bream to 11 lbs., tench to 9 lbs., eel to 6 lbs., crucian carp to over 3 lbs., and pike to over 10 lbs.

What tactics work well?

Tarn Pond comes complete with deep silt and sandy margins, offering an interesting set of backgrounds for differing methods of presentation. Just remember that all the bottom species are happy digging deep in the silt and will find your baits, no matter how deep they are.

Pole or tip fishing work well for bream, crucian carp and tench. The sandy marginal shelf makes presentation with the pole or waggler easier and fishing on the feeder into the main silt can be a devastating tactic.

What facilities are on site?

This venue offers parking facilities.

Is parking available?

There is plenty of parking space on both sides of Tarn Pond. Do not park on the road, especially the road alongside the dam, or in front of the cottage.
