Willington Lakes

Address

Barford Rd, Bedford MK44 3LG, United Kingdom

Fishery Information

Right near a section of Barford Road, we can find this giant fishery, to say the last, that covers as much as 12 acres of terrain. On top of that, it is also located in a rather remote area, with no homes or any other buildings nearby. The only noise sources are the vehicles that might pass on the road and the flowing of the Great Ousse river.

The lake itself is a gravel pit that has been turned into a specimen fish water. Thanks to increased weed growth, the species here have more than enough food to reach a size that’s worth catching, so to say.

In terms of stock, anglers can catch Carp Roach, Rudd, Perch, Tench, Chub, Bream, Pike, and Perch, depending on the lake. That’s right, the large lake, even though it looks continuous, is split by a short strip of land lined by trees.

What size do the fish go to?

Carp of over 20lbs.

150 Carp specimens of over 30lbs.

Rare Carp specimens of 40-45lbs.

100 Carp specimens of around 6-11lbs.

Chub of over 4lbs.

Roach, Rudd, Perch, Tench, Bream, Perch, and Pike of average size.

What tactics work well?

Given that the main attraction is Carp, pack boilies, bread, worms, corn and sweetcorn, and some maggots. Dead and Jiggly bait will be helpful if you want to catch other species of fish as well.

What facilities are on site?

No reported facilities on site.

Is parking available?

One small parking lot near the top of the lakes.

Roadside parking might be available, but not guaranteed.
