Fishery Information

Founded more than 25 years ago, the Mill Barn Fishery can be found near Wakering, in the beautiful countryside of Essex. The fishery itself consists of two lakes that are built for coarse fishing. In terms of stock, the main inhabitants of the lake are Carp specimens, as well as Tench and Bream.

The lakes are open to both members and non-members. However, the latter category must book their spot in advance and can use only a limited number of rods (max. 2), while members can use a total of three without any surcharge.

Careful if you plan to fish here Sunday mornings or Tuesday evenings, as competitions are often held during those times and might limit access to the fishing lakes. However, the club usually opens a third lake for a limited number of anglers as well.

What size do the fish go to?

All species within the two/three lakes are of average size.

What tactics work well?

One/two rods for £10; three rods for £15 (not applicable to members).

Since it’s a Carp specimen complex, we recommend boilies, bread, corn, sweetcorn, earthworms (worms in general), and even cherry tomatoes.

For Tench and the other species, you can rely on maggots, casters, slugs, pellets, and prawns. Overall, boilies can catch everything here.

What facilities are on site?

Club facilities on site.

Fishing shop on site.

Is parking available?

Medium-sized parking lot at the complex entrance.

Two other parking spots: one on a side of the members’ lake and one between the Lilly Pad and the members’ lake.
