Fishery Information

Willow Mere Writtle is a 1.5-acre lake managed by the Billericay & District Angling Club and located near Newney Green, Writtle in Chelmsford, Essex.

Established swims, adequate depths, and shelter from the wind are all features of this location. It has a healthy variety of fish in its stock, such as roach, rudd, perch, tench, pike, bream, chub, carp, and even some brown goldfish.

Members are strongly advised to fish exclusively from the constructed swims because some of the banks are rather steep. There will be no access for cars onto the field during the winter or at other times of the year when the weather is wet.

What size do the fish go to?

Carp 35lbs, pike 15lbs, brown goldfish 5lbs.

What tactics work well?

Only one rod allowed per member. Members should only fish from constructed swims as some banks are quite steep.

What facilities are on site?

A portable toilet is available in the corner of the field close to the entrance gate.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is available.
