Cloonahee Lake is located 6 miles north of Strokestown and offers excellent fishing opportunities for various fish species. The lake holds good stocks of Bream, Rudd, Hybrids, Pike, Perch, and Tench.

What size do the fish go to?

The lake has a variety of fish species, including big Bream and plentiful Tench. The size of the fish may vary, and it is recommended to be present at dawn or dusk for a good catch.

What tactics work well?

For Bream, using a feeder fishing method is recommended, while short pole and maggot fishing can produce a bite-a-cast. Sweetcorn, red maggot, bread, worm, and casters are popular baits for the different fish species.

Cloonahee Lake has been developed by Inland Fisheries Ireland to provide convenient access for anglers. The lake features an access roadway, a car park, and 30 fishing spaces equipped with a continuous boardwalk. Three of these spaces are specifically designed for anglers with disabilities.
