Fishery Information

Haig Angling Club’s primary location is “Mirehouse Ponds,” located on the outskirts of Whitehaven, Cumbria. It is a recreational fishing club with two ponds on the premises.

One smaller match pond known as “The Top Pond” offers adequate match angling sport with a variety of fish species, the majority of which are bream, skimmers, roach, perch, tench, and rudd, with F1 carp making up the remainder of the stock.

The pond is located closest to the road and parking lots at Mirehouse, and it features 32 angler pegs. The vast majority of pegs are easily accessible by anglers with physical limitations.

The Bottom Pond is the second, much larger pond that offers greater specimen fishing opportunities. It also boasts larger common and mirror carp, as well as larger species of bream and perch and a smaller population of silvers. It is the farthest away from the parking lots and contains 42 fishing pegs.

Prior arrangements may be necessary for night fishing.
