Fishery Information

Noted for everything from swimming to shooting to specimen carp fishing, Redrick Lakes really is a fun place to hang out. Located just on the outskirts of outskirts of the village of Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire, this spot is as good for corporate days as it is for a day out with the family.

Those seeking fishing will find plenty of selection, including a seven-acre specimen carp lake and a one-acre mixed fishery for smaller fare. There are also lakes dedicated to swimming and free swimming at Redrick Lakes, so be aware of what water serves what purpose before dipping a rod in.

These lakes have been purpose-built over 15 years ago, with carp stock pulling some serious heft. 1,000 fish have been stocked over the last three or so years.

What size do the fish go to?

Some of the original stock carp weigh in at over 40 pounds now, while newer stock are tuning up at 20 pounds or more. Chub at seven pounds and bream at 14.5 pounds have also turned up.

What tactics work well?

Unhooking mats must be used at all times.

Because this is a fairly busy and family-friendly spot, tactics must be adjusted due to activity level. Those looking for a quiet day on the water may have a little difficulty finding the right stroke, but good stock on the swims can be found.

Barbless hooks only. No nuts.

What facilities are on site?

Toilets and facilities are available at Redrick Lakes. There are full amenities, including a café called the Dancing Crayfish.

Activities offered include swimming, triathlon, shooting, bird-watching, Segways, and more.

Is parking available?

There is ample parking at Redrick Lakes.
