Fishery Information

This stretch of the wonderful River Avon is controlled by Bathampton Angling Association. It is free to members of the fishing club, but there are some day tickets available to non-members too. As many seasoned river anglers will know, the River Avon holds some monster fish, so it is no surprise that this stretch of river is often busy with anglers. There are plenty of areas of this river to fish, so do your research before you go because each area fishes a bit differently and holds different species of different weights.

What size do the fish go to?

As this is a river, the fish in it are forever moving around, and keeping track of weights is difficult. However, there are some massive pike in this river, up to 25lbs or more. There are also some wild carp that will give you a fight like you’ve never experienced. There is some beautifully big bream, barbel, tench, roach, rudd and perch too.

What tactics work well?

Location is vital on a river. The club owns miles and miles of this river, and it all fishes differently. Waggler fishing has always been popular in rivers. Still, closed feeders are a popular choice for anglers looking to catch the larger fish. Maggots, corn and meat can all have devastating effects in the right areas of this river.

What facilities are on site?

There are no facilities on site. However, there are tackle shops close to sections of the river, there are also cafes and public toilets too.

Is parking available?

Parking is available in public car parks fairly close to most of the sections of the river, but don’t pack the kitchen sink, as you may be in for a longish walk.
