Fishery Information

A holiday home complex in the heart of Gloucestershire, Lake Pochard Holiday Lodges is popular for anglers looking for a fishing break.

There are in fact two lakes here: Pochard Lakes is a well-stocked specimen lake, with 16 swims for the exclusive use of the holiday lodge residents and visitors. Sister lake Walters Lake is a purpose-built match lake that is partly exclusive, and also has 19 swims for guests.

Both lakes are stocked with a good head of carp, with good-sized pike in Pochard Lake. Walters Lake is also home to tench, bream, roach, rudd and perch, making it a popular lake for match fishing.

Pochard Lake requires anglers to be experienced in carp fishing and have tackle that is up to standard. While not considered a difficult lake, it is challenging to fish. Site management reserve the right to ask anglers to fish the match lake should their tackle be deemed not up to standard for Pochard Lake.

What size do the fish go to?

Pochard Lake is know to house at least 8 carp – mirror and common – over 35lbs, and numerous fish in the 20lbs+ bracket. Pike of more than 20lbs have also been landed.

Walters Lake is stocked with carp up to 14lbs, tench and bream of 7lbs, and roach and rudd of more than 1.5lbs. Plenty of silverfish make this a popular match lake.

What facilities are on site?

In addition to the holiday lodges that can be booked for various durations, Lake Pochard also features the Waterside Kitchen and Bar. With various outlets providing breakfast, lunch, dinner and a full drinks menu, it is a welcome presence and popular with anglers.
